vet about to commence treatment at hawthorne animal hospital

Meet our Veterinary Team

The experience, knowledge and diverse backgrounds of the veterinarians at Hawthorne Animal Hospital allow us to provide our patients with comprehensive care they can’t get anywhere else in the Metro East. We do more than vaccines and check-ups—we offer advanced care services, from surgery and orthopedics to dental care and physical therapy, to treat dogs, cats and exotics at every stage of life.

Dr. Paul Myer, Chief of Staff

Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Paul Myer has been an Edwardsville resident since his senior year of high school. After graduating from EHS in 1979, he transitioned to college life in town, earning his bachelor’s degree in biology from SIUE in 1983. He furthered his education and passion by obtaining his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois.

During his college years, Dr. Myer worked at Hawthorne until graduation. His job opportunities took him to Freeport, Ill. and Washington University before he returned to Hawthorne to help Edwardsville families ensure their pets receive the highest possible care.

Dr. Myer’s special interests include orthopedic surgery and wildlife rehabilitation.

In his free time, Dr. Myer enjoys spending time with his wife Donna and their son Andrew. He also enjoys fishing, working on old cars, and pretending to be a farmer.
