There are pet lovers, and then there are the pet obsessed. They’re the people who make a beeline toward the host’s dogs and cats at every party. The ones who never forget to say hi to every dog they pass on their daily run. And of course, those who dedicate their careers to the health and happiness of every pet that comes into their lives.
At Hawthorne Animal Hospital, we’re all pet obsessed and are always on the lookout for other professionals who share our dedication to pet health.
While working with cute dogs and cats all day is a perk for most employees, Hawthorne knows that’s not all that goes into a satisfying career in the veterinary field. We want to create the best working environment possible for our team members, and that includes industry-leading benefits, competitive pay, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. It also means a family-like atmosphere where every voice is heard and every idea is valued.
Because of Hawthorne’s status as a renowned animal hospital, employees receive on-the-job training you won’t experience anywhere else. Whether you’re a veterinarian or vet tech, you have access to state-of-the-art equipment, a team of mentors who are nationally-recognized in the industry, and ongoing education to help you grow your expertise and excel in your chosen specialty. It’s why so many veterinary professionals start their careers at Hawthorne—and why so many stay to provide our clients with the best medicine possible.
If you’re a veterinarian, vet tech, nurse, or administrative professional, discover how you can make a difference for pets and their families across the Metro East.
You’ve spent years in the classroom—now it’s time to bring your experience to the exam room! Our DVM Externship Program puts you at the center of patient care. You’ll join our veterinarians on hospital rounds, share your insights on cases, and for fourth-year students, have the chance to scrub in on procedures.
As a vet tech student, you’re required to get in real-world experience before you graduate. Hawthorne believes in doing everything we can to ensure you get the most from your externship. During your time with our team, you’ll gain experience in a variety of specialties, from radiology and rehabilitation to oncology and chemotherapy, to discover the area of care that meets your professional goals.
You’re about to graduate—so, what’s your next step? If you’re ready to hit the ground running instead of enrolling in residency, let your career path lead you to Hawthorne, one of the only AAHA-accredited animal hospitals in Southern Illinois. All new vets are partnered with an experienced mentor focused on your success and train alongside our doctors in all areas of our practice.
